Sofabed Care: How to keep the fabric looking its best
The Sofabed is made to live outdoors. Sun, rain, sand and everyday use are all part of outdoor living, but with a little care, the upholstered fabric can stay beautiful and comfortable for longer.
These care tips focus on the upholstered part of the Sofabed. The frame does not require any additional maintenance.
1. Start with dry brushing
Before cleaning the fabric with water, remove loose sand, pollen and dust with a soft brush while the fabric is completely dry.
If you wet the fabric with water, there is a risk that dirt will be rubbed deeper into the weave. Starting with a dry brush helps remove surface dirt without putting unnecessary strain on the fabric.
2. Clean the fabric gently
For a more thorough clean, use lukewarm or warm water, with a maximum temperature of 40°C and a mild soap. Green soap or a biological detergent such as Biotex can be used.
Gently clean the fabric with a soft brush and allow the soap solution to work for approximately 10 minutes. Then rinse the fabric throughly with plenty of clean water to remove any remaining soap.
Never use a pressure washer. The high pressure can damage the structure of the fabric.
After cleaning, allow the fabric to air dry completely. Do not wring or twist the fabric. We also recommend not putting the fabric in the washing machine or using an iron.
3. Restore the water- and dirt-repellent finish
The acrylic fabric is treated during production with a water- and dirt-repellent finish. Over time, exposure to sunlight and rain can cause this protective coating to wear down.
After thoroughly cleaning the fabric and allowing it to dry completely, you can restore its water- and dirt-repellent properties with a textile spray specifically developed for outdoor furniture.
We recommend, for example, Nikwax Tent & Gear SolarProof. Always follow the instructions on the product packaging when applying the spray.
