How to use the wood fired Dutchtub

There is no electricity involved in heating the Dutchtub at all. Everything is naturally heated. This means you are involved in getting the tub ready every step of the way. From getting the firewood, to lighting the fire, to waiting for the Dutchtub to heat up. It is a great way to reconnect to your surroundings. Because nothing is more rewarding than a warm relaxing bath after a day spent outdoors.

1. Fill the Dutchtub
To fill the tub quickly you simply connect a garden hose to the turbo valve. Depending on your water pressure and type of garden hose, it will take around one hour to fill the Dutchtub. The bath has a capacity of 650 liters. Once the tub is filled, the water can be used for multiple days, if no detergents and soaps are used

2. Collect your firewood
The Dutchtub is a wood fired hot tub. Therefore, you will need to collect your own firewood. While the Dutchtub fills with water, you can go outside and chop your own wood (or just get your wood from a local certified dealer). Make sure the logs are small enough to fit inside the spiral, so you are ready to light the fire.

3. Light a fire
On the edge of the Dutchtub you will find a spiral with a heating basket inside. This serves as the heat source for the water. Place your chopped-up logs inside and light a fire inside the heating basket. Natural circulation will do the rest: the water at the bottom of the tub is sucked into the spiral where it gets heated by the fire. It makes its way through the spiral and flows out at the top of the tub.

4. Wait for the water to heat up
To evenly distribute the warm water that flows back into the tub, you can stir the water every now and then. All in all, it will take about 2 hours for the water to reach a temperature of 38 degrees. This process will go faster if you close off the Dutchtub with a cover. While you’re waiting for the water to reach the temperature you want, why not prepare some snacks before you get ready to relax in the warm water.

5. Relax and enjoy your outdoor bath
When your satisfied with the temperature of the water, all that is left to do is sit down and relax. The warm bath will be even more rewarding after the work you put in yourself. Thanks to the double wall of the tub, you won’t need much to ensure a nice temperature. One bag of wood will keep the water at 38 degrees for about 4 hours. If you want to let it cool down, simply stop adding wood! Of course, when the weather is nice and you’re looking for an outdoor bath to cool down, all you have to do is fill the Dutchtub with cold water.
